Foundations of Mindfulness

Mindfulness, we hear this  word  everywhere these days but what does it really mean?    We live in a world full of distractions.  So many things easily pull our attention away from the present moment.  We keep doing and doing, and very seldomly  allow ourselves the time to simply be. Mindfulness encourages us to develop a moment to moment awareness. To be present for our life as it unfolds.

This course is 6 sessions long.  Each week a different topic will be discussed and practiced.  We will discuss the neuroscience behind these practices. After completing this course you will have a basic understanding of mindfulness, its benefits and you will understand the importance of putting your own oxygen mask on first.

This course is wonderful for educators, administrators, health care professionals, counselors, parents, college kids, or a group of friends! ( It’s actually the perfect starting point for anyone!)

Mindfulness in the Classroom

6 sessions

Mindfulness in the classroom is part 2 in the Educators series. In order to teach or incorporate mindfulness strategies into your daily teaching schedule it is important for you to have an understanding of what Mindfulness is and have had an opportunity to practice the strategies yourself first.

In this course you will dive a bit deeper into the exploration of mindfulness practices.  Not only will your personal practice continue to develop but you will learn practical ways to integrate mindfulness into the classroom setting.  You will walk away with many activities and resources to utilize immediately with your students, cultivating a learning environment and climate where all learners can thrive.  Be prepared to play and have fun!

Self-Care: Anchoring in the Present

60 or 90 minute workshop

“Put your own oxygen mask on first” is a popular saying these days.  It is especially important for people who spend a great deal of their time taking care of others. Taking just a few minutes each day to replenish yourself can help you become an active participant on the path to personal growth and self-care.

This  workshop will offer tools and strategies to use throughout the day to help keep you feeling grounded and supported.  Self-care is an important step in maintaining balance and resilience.  We will practice, learn, discuss, and reflect together.

This workshop is a great addition in any workplace!  This workshop discusses the power of the pause.  Simply pressing pause can allow us the opportunity to  intentionally respond rather than impulsively react! Reach out for more details.

Reconnect with Yourself

2 hour, half day, or full day retreat

“The quieter you become the more you are able to hear” ~RUMI

During our time together you are invited to slow down and reconnect with your purpose. Stillness, quiet and slowing down give us the opportunity to process our experiences. It invites us to notice there are many things we can not control but we have the ability to control how we meet each moment, to place our attention where we want it.  We will take time to reflect on what is truly important through discussion, activities and practice. By simply pausing we can often feel renewed to meet any challenge we may encounter.  When we slow down, even for a few moments, it  helps to interrupt the ever churning, busy mind.

Throughout the retreat many different activities will be presented, such as guided sits, art , movement and games. There will be numerous topics discussed such as , mindful breathing, movement, orienting, resourcing , grounding, self-compassion and gratitude. Participants will be encouraged to journal, reflect and practice. ( All materials will be provided)

Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different.  Enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will).  Being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won't).
